What is Business Intelligence? It refers to the combination of systems, processes and technologies used to organize and transform basic data into meaningful information in order to make decisions and drive the university forward. Business Intelligence depends on a foundation of trustworthy data that is gathered with accuracy and integrity. Belmont has implemented a system of Data Governance to ensure that our data is clean and dependable.
The real power of business intelligence is bringing data from multiple data systems together into a single, cohesive structure to present a more complete picture and give greater insight into the operations of the university. BI offers advanced visualizations to view, analyze, and utilize complex data to enable strategic decision making.
Belmont Analytics
Belmont Analytics (BA) is the newest data reporting system at Belmont. Belmont Analytics combines data from multiple database systems into an optimized, integrated format that offer a more complete view of Belmont’s data. BA uses a star schema design and multi-dimensional OLAP cube structures that provides powerful, interactive data presentation options. Data from Belmont analytics is displayed through Pyramid, Argos and Blackboard Learn.
Pyramid Reporting
Pyramid is the dashboarding tool used with Belmont Analytics. This tool provides an interactive visual display of Belmont data. The user can interact with the dashboard, drilling into specific data, choosing the dimensional descriptors by which data are divided and displayed in order to understand data and make informed decisions.
