Steve Powell founded Powell LLC in 2007, and the firm continues today with four partners and a staff of 17 architects, interior designers, construction managers and superintendents. Currently, he leads The Powell Group, LLC an architecture, real estate investment and property management firm. In 2024 Mr. Powell co-founded the Nashville Center for Architecture + Design, a 501c3 foundation that promotes the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the ways architecture and design influence the built environment and enhances our quality of life. With over forty years of experience, he has wide experience in building types and holds a general contractor license in addition to his architect’s registration. Active in the Old Hickory Church of Christ, Mr. Powell has extensive community involvement and also served as the president of the AIA Middle Tennessee Chapter. As an instructor, he is particularly concerned with his role as a guide to lead students through their many choices of methodologies, techniques, and creative process.
