Climbing Assistant

Job Descriptions

Facility Assistants serve as the face of Belmont University's Department of Fitness and Recreation, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk and in the weight room while creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all members and guests. Facility Assistants are responsible for monitoring facility spaces, enforcing departmental policies, assisting patrons, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility, and supporting daily operations. These positions require 6–15 hours per week, including evening and weekend shifts, and emphasize hospitality, professionalism, and outstanding customer service.

Climbing Assistants support the daily operations of the rock wall by setting routes, assisting climbers, enforcing safety protocols, and providing excellent customer service. They also help facilitate special events and clinics, contributing to a welcoming and engaging climbing environment for the Belmont community. They work between 6-15 hours per week, with some weekend shifts for Route Setting.

Picklebeach Facility Assistants oversee daily operations at the pickleball and beach volleyball courts, manage equipment checkout and check-in, assist with court reservations, enforce facility policies, and help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility. This position requires 6–15 hours per week, including evening and weekend shifts, and emphasizes hospitality, risk management, and outstanding member service.

Esport Facility Assistants support daily operations in Belmont’s state-of-the-art Esports Lounge by providing excellent customer service, monitoring facility usage, and assisting with gaming equipment setup and troubleshooting. Working 6–15 hours per week, including weekend shifts, these team members help enforce facility policies, support special events and competitions, and contribute to a fun, inclusive, and innovative gaming environment.

The Beaman Trainer reports to the Director, Assistant Director and Fitness Graduate Assistant and is responsible for safely and effectively training personal training clients who are part the Belmont Community and facilitating a great fitness environment. All trainers are expected to have a basic knowledge of fitness programming and uphold fitness policies while conducting them safely and effectively. BT 1 are required to complete the Beaman Jumpstart Trainer course. BT 2 must possess a personal training certification from a NCCA accredited organization. BT 3 must possess a personal training certification from a NCCA accredited organization and must have a Bachelor Degree.

The JumpStart Trainer reports to the Director, Assistant Director and Fitness Graduate Assistant and is responsible for safely and effectively training JumpStart clients who are part the Belmont Community and facilitating a great fitness environment. Jumpstart Trainers are individuals who are passionate about fitness and who are interested in obtaining personal training certification. All trainers must exhibit a healthy lifestyle.

The group fitness instructor reports to the Director, Assistant Director and the Fitness & Wellness Programming Graduate Assistant and is responsible for safely and effectively conducting a group fitness class for the Belmont Community. Instructors must have the ability to lead a class with safe fitness & exercise techniques and have the ability to create a dynamic workout. All Group Fitness Instructors must conduct a 30-minute demonstration. GF Instructor 1 does not require certifications. GF Instructor 2 requires prior teaching experience and Personal Training or Group Fitness Certification. GF Instructor 3 requires teaching experience, Personal Training or Group Fitness Certification and a Bachelor Degree.

Brand Managers assist in promoting the Department of Fitness and Recreation by creating digital marketing materials for campus displays, social media, and in-facility screens. This role supports the department’s brand identity while helping market programs, services, and facilities through creative content and strategic communication. They work between 6 and 15 hours per week with some weekend shifts. The ability to work with a variety of programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, InDesign, Canva and motion graphics software are preferred.

Graduate Assistants play a vital role within FitRec as they directly oversee and manage departmental services and programs that impact the Belmont community.
