Daybreak Arts
This year we are excited to continue our partnership with Daybreak Arts a social enterprise non-profit, founded by a Belmont graduate, that creates artistic and economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity by providing them access to the creative resources needed to achieve personal fulfillment and success. Seventeen of our Sophomore design students are collaborating with five artists and will be creating collections inspired by their works of art that will also raise awareness and funds for the organization.
“Because when we hear the stories, the experiences, and the perspectives of people at the margins of society, our world becomes more inclusive, more open, and more loving. We will hear stories that humanize, that complicate ingrained biases, and that ultimately inspire you to advocate for the humanity of a person who might be different from you.”

#BeTheGift
Currently, there are more than 100,000 Americans waiting for lifesaving organ transplants, and 3,000 of those waiting are Tennesseans. The Tennessee Donor Services’ #BeTheGift campaign is to raise awareness and register organ, eye and tissue donations. Tennessee Donor Services and Donate Life Tennessee is providing another opportunity for purposeful design. Our students will be raising awareness for organ and tissue donation. A staggering statistic is that 20 people die every day waiting for a life-saving transplant. Organ and tissue donations transform lives, and seven of our Junior design students will be honoring the donors and celebrating life. Each student has been paired with a recipient of a donation, donated or has a connection with the gift of life, and custom outfits will be created as a celebration.
SVP Worldwide
SVP Worldwide, doing business through SVP-Singer Holdings, Inc. and its affiliates, is the world’s largest consumer sewing machine company, accounting for approximately one out of every three sewing machines sold annually across the globe. The company and its three iconic brands - SINGER®, HUSQVARNA® VIKING®, and PFAFF® - each has delighted consumers for over 450 years.
The company invited students and faculty member Jenny Kemala to their headquarters and were trained on the PFAFF® creative icon™ 2 sewing and embroidery machine, and mySewnet™ Embroidery Software.
Sophomore students will be designing capsules for Spring/Summer 2024 and using the PFAFF® sewing and embroidery machine graciously provided by the company. Collections will be revealed at the 2023 Fashion Show.
