Scholarship Opportunities

O'More College of Architecture & Design

Each year, the O’More College awards a number of scholarships to incoming undergraduate students majoring in one of its academic programs. These awards are renewable for four years (five for B.Arch. majors), provided the recipient maintains all required academic and citizenship expectations.

The namesake for the O’More College of Architecture & Design is Eloise Pitts O’More. She founded the college in 1970 after studying Interior Design in Paris, France, to establish a degree program in middle Tennessee for Interior Design. Later, the College grew to include Fashion Design and Merchandising as well as Graphic Design, before merging with Belmont University in 2018. As part of merger agreements between the O’More College of Design and Belmont University, an endowed scholarship was established for students of the O'More College of Architecture & Design. Although Ms. O’More passed away in 2002 and did not directly contribute to the establishment of the endowment, her legacy lives on through this award.

Scholarship Guidelines

Deadline: Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have their Belmont application with all required materials submitted by December 1 to be eligible for this Departmental Scholarship.

Requirements:

As designated by the scholarship requirements, this Departmental Scholarship is meant to support incoming Fall semester students with demonstrated need. We use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to identify if a student has demonstrated need and is, therefore, eligible as a recipient of this award.

To be considered, there are simply two requirements:

  1. Submit your Belmont Application with all required materials by December 1
  2. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so we can determine eligibility

There is no additional application or material that you need to submit in order to qualify. We will consider each student that meets these outlined requirements.

Please note: If you do not file the FAFSA or complete your Belmont application in its entirety by the December 1 deadline, you will not be considered for this scholarship. To ensure we award students in a timely manner in the spring, it is crucial that you meet that December 1 deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions

The O’More Departmental Scholarship is awarded to incoming Fall 2024 freshman or transfer students who have demonstrated need. Only Fall incoming students with demonstrated need, based on their FAFSA filing, will be considered for this scholarship.

Current students, Spring/Summer incoming students, and international students. You must be a U.S. citizen and a Fall incoming student to be considered.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the official form that families use to apply for college financial assistance from the federal government. The U.S. Department of Education uses a family's FAFSA information to determine a student's eligibility for any institutional need-based scholarships or grants, as well as other federal and state (for Tennessee residents) financial aid opportunities.

Once your FAFSA is received by Belmont’s Office of Student Financial Services, they will create a financial aid award that could include scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work Study depending on eligibility.

This is a highly competitive, need-based scholarship. On average, we award aid to 1-3 students annually.

Recipients of this award can expect up to $4,000 worth of aid that would be awarded to them each year they are in an O'More program, meeting all academic requirements.

Note: For students pursuing our five-year, Bachelor of Architecture degree, know that this award would be awarded annually all five years of the program, assuming a student continuously meets all academic requirements.

There is no portfolio requirement for scholarship consideration. Just complete your Belmont application with required materials and your FAFSA filing by the December 1 deadline.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award via a letter in the mail. The scholarship award amount will also be reflected in their financial aid package.

Assuming that the FAFSA will open on time this fall, students should expect to hear back about a decision early spring.

Note: We do reaward to other eligible candidates if a recipient decides not to attend Belmont. We typically do this after May 1.

To officially accept your O'More Departmental Scholarship award, you will reply "YES" to your Offer of Admission and pay your enrollment deposit.

Students can complete both of those actions through their BU4U student account.
